🎉 A Summer Tradition on the Water: The Skaneateles Antique & Classic Boat Show

There’s something timeless about a summer weekend in Skaneateles. The glint of sunlight on the lake, the buzz of families exploring downtown, and—if you time it just right—the unmistakable hum of beautifully restored wooden boats cutting across the water. This July, one of the Finger Lakes’ most beloved traditions returns: the Skaneateles Antique & Classic Boat Show, a celebration of craftsmanship, community, and lakeside charm.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Skaneateles Lake, this year’s event takes place July 25–27, 2025, at Clift Park, right in the heart of the village. It’s a weekend where history floats—literally—with nearly 80 classic boats on display, including mahogany runabouts, vintage launches, elegant sailboats, and even antique canoes. You’ll see names like Chris‑Craft, Gar Wood, and Century—boats that were once the crown jewels of American boating.

Now in its 47th year, and its 31st year hosted at Clift Park, the show draws boat lovers and families from across the U.S., Canada, and beyond—nearly 10,000 visitors strong. And best of all? It’s free and open to the public.

🚤 From Bow to Stern: A Boat Lover’s Paradise

Whether you’re a lifelong enthusiast or a curious newcomer, there’s something magnetic about walking the docks during show hours:

  • Friday: 3 p.m. to dusk
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to dusk
  • Sunday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Skaneateles Fire Department will host a special boat parade on Saturday around 3:15 p.m., turning the lake into a moving gallery of floating history. It’s a true highlight—photogenic, festive, and one of the best vantage points for seeing these beauties in action.

🎶 Family Fun, Live Music, and Little Toot

This is far more than just a boat show—it’s a lakeside festival. Throughout the weekend, live music fills the park thanks to community bands and local favorites performing on stage. Kids can join in the fun with hands-on activities like toy boat painting, model boat displays, and even a ride on the event’s tiny floating tugboat, the “Little Toot.”

Young visitors can also participate in a youth judging program, giving them a voice in the awards—and maybe sparking a lifelong passion for vintage boating. Sunday morning, you can even board the historic Judge Ben Wiles for a photo and spectator cruise—tickets are just $17 for adults and $7 for children. It’s the perfect way to take in the show from the water itself.

🏆 Awards, Posters, and People’s Choice

On Sunday afternoon, awards are given in over 35 categories, including the coveted People’s Choice Award, where visitors vote for their favorite vessel. Be sure to grab the event’s official poster, painted by artist Joan Marcoccia Coates, available for just $10 at the show and the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce.

đźš— Getting There and Parking Tips

Parking in downtown Skaneateles is available in municipal lots for $0.75/hr (up to $6/day), but the town makes it easy for visitors by offering free parking at both the Austin Park Pavilion lot and Skaneateles High School, complete with a complimentary shuttle to the show. The entire event is handicap accessible.

🌞 Make a Day of It
After you’ve admired the boats, explore Skaneateles’ charming downtown. Grab a lakeside lunch, browse the boutiques, stop by a gallery, or enjoy a treat from one of the local ice cream shops. The boat show is the perfect centerpiece to a summer weekend getaway, whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town.

If you’re lucky enough to own a classic boat yourself and would like to exhibit it, registration is coordinated through the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society. Interested boaters can email FLCboatshow@gmail.com to inquire.
