Each July, the village of Skaneateles comes alive with the shimmering glow of polished wood, the scent of lake breezes, and the steady hum of classic engines gliding across crystal-clear water. The 2025 Skaneateles Antique & Classic Boat Show, held July 25–27, was a spectacular showcase of history, craftsmanship, and Finger Lakes charm—and it didn’t disappoint.
This beloved annual tradition transformed Clift Park into a floating museum of nearly 80 antique boats, with names like Chris-Craft, Century, and Gar Wood lining the docks. The lake shimmered as beautifully restored runabouts, canoes, launches, and sailboats told stories of eras gone by. With 10,000+ visitors over the weekend, it was once again a highlight of summer in the Finger Lakes.
A Weekend Where History Floated
Now in its 47th year, and 31st at Clift Park, the show once again proved why it draws enthusiasts from across the U.S. and Canada. Visitors wandered the docks and admired a stunning array of vintage vessels, many gleaming as if they had just left the showroom—despite being built decades ago.
The event officially kicked off Friday afternoon and continued through Sunday, with perfect lake weather setting the stage. The Saturday boat parade, organized by the Skaneateles Fire Department, was a fan favorite as always—turning the waterfront into a moving, photogenic gallery.
Music, Memories & Mini Tugboats
What makes this event truly special is its festive, family-friendly atmosphere. Throughout the weekend, live music filled the air as local performers entertained guests enjoying the sunshine. Children painted toy boats, explored model displays, and got to ride on the beloved “Little Toot”—a pint-sized tugboat offering big smiles.
Another standout moment? The Sunday morning cruise aboard the historic Judge Ben Wiles. Dozens of visitors boarded this vintage tour boat for a picture-perfect journey across Skaneateles Lake—camera shutters clicking, laughter echoing over the water.
Judging, Youth Engagement & Artful Keepsakes
Sunday afternoon wrapped the weekend with an awards ceremony recognizing excellence across 35 boat categories, including the People’s Choice Award, voted on by attendees. The event also included a youth judging program, sparking interest in preservation and boating among younger generations.
A collector’s highlight was the official event poster, painted by Joan Marcoccia Coates, which sold for $10 at the show and through the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce. The poster—a perfect souvenir—captured the nostalgia and joy of the weekend in vibrant detail.
Easy to Enjoy
Visitors appreciated the thoughtful logistics, including free shuttle parking from Austin Park and Skaneateles High School, accessible amenities, and affordable downtown parking. The show was as smooth in its operation as the boats it featured.
A Weekend to Remember
Whether you stayed for an hour or an entire weekend, the 2025 Skaneateles Boat Show offered a rare glimpse into the golden age of boating—and a strong sense of community. Many attendees turned the event into a daylong adventure, pairing the show with lakeside dining, boutique shopping, and sweet treats from downtown vendors.
For those considering entering a boat next year, the show is coordinated by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society, who can be reached at FLCboatshow@gmail.com for future inquiries.
